Today, is my last day as an intern. I learned a vast amount about marketing and media and gained more experience than I most likely will with my education. I want to thank all those who gave me tours and give a special thanks to everyone in the office. I most definitely enjoyed my time here and the knowledge I received here will help me to better my future.

Job shadowing, gripping, calls, sales, Tuesday meetings, etc. I feel that I had a small taste of what the real world is like and I anticipate more to come. I will remember my time here forever.

It was a fun and interesting experience and I have all of PS Media to thank.

Much appreciated,

Today, we jump started our Tuesday with our weekly meeting. Once the meeting had closed Scott and I ventured over to a client to shoot some B-Roll for an upcoming TV spot. While, shooting B-Roll I was able to see some of the awesome products that are currently being sold. Pretty sweet stuff if you ask me.

Later in the day, I wrote some script for a television spot and a radio spot for one of our clients. I then passed it around the office upon which it was butchered, mutilated, and distorted. Nonetheless, it came back with MINOR changes. (not really..)

I finally wrapped up my day with doing some voice overs. Let us say that my voice is not meant for commercials, it is meant for grand things, such as, cartoons.

LATER.

Yesterday, I went on a tour at a local radio station. While at the station I sat in and witnessed a live on air show. When the show was completed I was able to partake in one of the activities that the show does. When we finished recording the part, I was shown how the editing and producing of the part was accomplished. When that was finished I was shown around the radio station. In all it was a lot of fun.
I ended the day with a tour around a local television news station. I learned a lot about how the TV station keeps stays on air, as well as, programs used to track commercial spots that are open or have been sold.
Good times.

Today, I endeavored on two expeditions. My first expedition was to a local radio station. At the radio station I was given a rundown of the operations and was able to sit in and listen to a couple of live shows. When the tour came to a closing I was rewarded with a golden token. I assume that I was given this golden token to save for a later time in my journey, perhaps to unlock a secret door (like in the video games). After I had completed my odyssey at the radio station I visited the local newspaper. At the newspaper I was given a tour and shown how everything is published from start to finish. Overall, I enjoyed my tours at both of these places and learned a great deal. Toodle-loo.

Yesterday, I ventured out on two Media Vendor tours. My first tour was at a radio station. I learned how voice-overs, transitions, and compilations are carried out, as well as what equipment and programs they use. My next tour was at a Television News station. At the TV station, it was explained as to how stories and editing are accomplished and how the production team creates and controls video transitions and graphics.

Today, we started off with our weekly meeting. This meeting went by much quicker than most meetings. After the meeting I was given an astronomical lesson about solstices and equinoxes. Fun fact: In exactly one week we will be experiencing the longest day of the year (June 21).

As for the rest of the day, I did research and observed the editing of a TV commercial. All in all, living the American dream.

After the meeting I strolled to my desk where I made phone calls and conducted research. Once my list of calls was completed, I went on to do more research. YEA BUDDDDDDYYYYY!

Today, I finished my research, stocked the refrigerator, and during my lunch I did cardio. Yes, all that in one day. Some people are just born amazing, others are born extremely amazing, I was blessed with being both.

Hayden, out.

Much like always, jokes and off topic conversation went about, this usually makes for an entertaining meeting.

When the meeting came to a closure I returned to my desk to continue researching my topics. Currently, I am still doing research but, once it is complete I plan to make calls and answer calls.

I also received my own business card today. Having my own business card now makes me an official badass, officially. P.S. Media might even think about printing more, because I am pretty sure all of the Tri-Cities is going to want to have their hands on one of these.

Until tomorrow, peace.

On Monday I began the second phase of my research project, OPERATION SURVEY PROSPECT CLIENTS, in which I call companies that I have researched and ask their marketing departments to answer survey questions. Although, my research project doesn’t actually entail that awesome title, I still jumped into the calls head first. After calling about 100 different places, I have had eight people stay on the phone with me to take a minute out of their busy day to answer my questions. Profit? I think so.
Come at me marketing departments!

Today, my day began with venturing out on a commercial shoot. This particular commercial shoot, I would compare to, observing the scenario, for we took shots of the regular nature of how the business is ran.

After the commercial shoot, we returned back to the office. At the office I completed more research on future target clients up until my lunch break. When I had returned from my lunch break I watched, yet another commercial take. At this specific commercial shoot I was able to give some of my own input and opinions on the script and takes.

At this moment in time (as I’m typing this), I plan to continue my research and accomplish whatever tasks are sent my way.

PEACE.

Today, we had a staff meeting where everyone updated one another with what their current projects. When the meeting ended, I went to a commercial shoot and helped carry equipment. After the commercial shoot I was rewarded with a new mouse for my laptop for being such an awesome intern!

In the latter half of the day, I visited an expo and gathered business cards. It was nice to call walking around and observing all the great booth set ups, work.

Until another day …
